Silent Disco - Liverpool Street St 6th February 2009 Review.

Last night one of the biggest Flashmob’s ever in the UK took place. It was in many ways a welcomed response to T-Mobiles awful advert that mimicked a Flash mob event for their own commercial gain. This event played host to over 13,000 revellers and what seemed to be 13,000 photographers.

This mob had everything from stage diving to break dancing and moshing.

The event was supposed to be a 15 minute “flash rave” however half an hour later there were still a good few thousand people in the station. The police soon stepped in and slowly moved people out of Liverpool street station. At this point London Underground thought that it would be a good idea to shut the station. This may have made sense prior to 7pm. However when it was time for everyone to go home via their travel card, they couldn’t. Silly, silly London Underground.

More video footage of this flashmob will be added to this blog at a later date. This footage will include more stage diving, more smiles and footage of the sillyness with police after the event.

Liverpool Street Station - Worlds largest Silent Disco 6th February 2009

There are over 12,000 people already signed up on Facebook to participate in the worlds largest silent disco. All you need is a personal music player (or mobile phone), some headphones and your finest pair of dancing shoes.

When the clock turns 7pm everyone will be busting a move and making a groove ‘flash mob’ style. Here is a (shoddy) video from a silent rave at Liverpool street station two years ago:

This will be the biggest and best event since the Undergrounds infamous Circle Line Rave!

Snowball Fight in Trafalgar Square organised through Twitter

Firstly, we would like to thank everyone who attended & helped to promote the battle of Trafalgar snowball fight.

Awareness of the event reached a hug
e UK audience mostly via the social networking site Twitter. Seeded on the Snowball Fight Twitter account the hype surrounding the event snowballed until the terms 'snowball fight' & 'Trafalgar' became the two most retweeted keywords in the UK. The Snowball twitter account then became the most retweeted ‘person’ by lunchtime (Retweetrader.com).

Unfortunately however the conditions soon took a turn for the worse and many of the city folk fled to their homes. Most of the busses, trains and tubes then ground to a halt! This left only the patriotic to fight. Furthermore there seemed to be a media blackout by the afternoon with only a few websites, blogs and one radio station left to inform the nation about the battle.

At 6.20pm the (smaller then first anticipated) snowball fight began. Valiant teams pelted ice, slush and grit at one another. One soldier solemnly reported that despite their best efforts “the French and silly hat wearers won" (@Hippowill).

Next time London receives a good flurry of snow we intend to ‘Take back Trafalgar’ and punish the enemy for this somewhat humiliating defeat. teh Snowball fight was suggested by James Norris a Social Media Strategist in London

Thanks for your support
